1979

♦ Soccer in Houma kicked off in the fall of 1979! Bob Mayers, Fr. Lynch, Mr. Felix, and John Telford started with 150 players ages 8-12. They started at Annunciata and behind Ellender Jr High. This was the beginnings of Bayou Soccer Association.

1982

♦ The first high school soccer team in Houma was kickstarted at Vandebilt Catholic HS, coached by John Telford and Fr. Joseph Coyne.

1983

♦ John Telford and Fr. Joseph Coyne started a high school recreation program. All of the high schools were represented and played a league from September to November.

1984

♦ Terrebonne Chargers U12, coached by Bob Mayers are the first team from Houma to win a state championship.

1984

♦ Louisiana Soccer Association (LSA) is formed.

♦ Bayou Soccer Association is officially recognized by Louisiana Soccer Association. The BSA logo was a cypress tree and a soccer ball flying out of the swamp.

♦ Houma Blast at the AAU Junior Olympics (1986). Sent in by Patrick Ghirardi.

 

1986

♦ Soccer becomes an officially recognized sport in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. It became a state championship event.

♦ Houma Blast participated in the 1986 AAU Jr Olympics in Cocoa, Fl.

1990

♦ Under BSA (Bayou Soccer Association) the Houma Sidekicks (formerly Houma Force) won a U14 state tournament in 1990 and participated in the Region III tournament in Atlanta, GA.

1990-1991

♦ At this time the hub for soccer in Houma moved from the YMCA to the ‘Winn Dixie’ fields.

♦ Houma's longstanding Gobbler Cup tournament is introduced for the first time! 2017

     will be it's 27th year!

1992-1993

♦ Houma hosts a state tournament for the first time behind Winn Dixie.

♦ It was around this time the club-wide name 'Blackhawks' formed by Dean Maltezos. Dan Franz and Joe Comeaux played prominent coaching roles in these early years.

1994

♦ In 1994 the U18 Blackhawks won state and participated in Region III tournament in Houston, TX.

1995

♦ Houma Gators, formerly Blackhawks in 1993-94 (they were only Blackhawks for a year and coached by Rick Alexander), under Bayou Soccer Association and coached by Steve Malcolm won the Pelican Cup (recreational state tournament) at Moore Park in Lafayette by defeating STYSA Eagles 4-3 in extra time. Gators beat East Ascension 13-1, Raceland 4-0, and St Charles Fireball 3-1 to win the bracket. Gators then faced CLECO Shockers in a semi-final and won 2-0. This was a 16 team event with 4 brackets of 4.

1996

♦ Houma Gators under Bayou Soccer Association coached by Steve Malcolm won the Pelican Cup (recreational state tournament) at LSU-Shreveport by defeating RAPSA Knights from Pineville 3-1. They progressed to the championship game by defeating STYSA Roadkill 5-1, East Ascension 13-1, and Carrollton 3-1.

1997

♦ Blackhawks U12 win the Louisiana Premier State Cup under Joe Comeaux, versus PAC of New Orleans.

1998

♦ Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association had over 750 children registered to play soccer during the fall. The new growth caused problems with field availability at the time.

January 2005 

♦ There were four Blackhawk teams in the Fall with all teams being boys teams. Teams were at the U11, U12, U14 and U15 levels. These teams competed in the Premier Select Division. 

Spring 2005

♦ Robichaux Ford and Bayou Black Electric are uniform sponsors for the Spring.

Fall 2005

♦ There were five Blackhawk teams in the Fall with four being boys teams and one being a girls team. Teams were at the U11, U12, U13 and U17 levels. These teams competed in the Premier Select Division. 

January 2006

♦ HTSA adopts the logo we see today and standard colors of red, white and blue for all HTSA teams.

Spring 2006

♦ HTSA U18G United and U14B Heat are state champions in the Spring.

♦ Through the efforts of Abelardo Carbajal, HTSA is able to start an adult league. This league was designed to provide a platform to players 18 years and above.

July 2006

♦ There were five Blackhawks teams in the Spring with four being boys teams and one being a girls team. Teams were at the U11, U12, U13 and U17 levels. These teams competed in the Premier Select Division.

Fall 2006

♦ Batteries Plus becomes HTSA's uniform sponsor.

January 2007

♦ There were three Blackhawk teams in the Spring with all three being boys teams. They competed at the U11, U12 and U13 levels in the Premier Select Division.

Spring 2007

♦ HTSA U16G Heat and U12G Hurricanes win their state tournaments. U16G Heat participated in the Region III competition, winning one, drawing one and suffering one defeat.

♦ HTSA hosted the East District State Tournament in the Spring (April 28-29, 2007). 

Fall 2007

♦ We had a total of 794 players in the Fall in all divisions.

♦ Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association's main sponsor is now Trapp Chevrolet through the Fall and Spring of 2008.

January 2008

♦ There were three Blackhawk teams in the Spring with all three being boys teams. Teams were at the U11, U12, and U14 levels and competed in the Premier Select Division.

Spring 2008

♦ The Lakes Soccer Complex stages the LSA Division 1 State Tournament at the U17 through U19 levels on April 19-20, 2008.

Fall 2008

♦ Teppco Marine becomes the uniform sponsor for HTSA for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009.

♦ Over 60 teams from across the state of Louisiana compete in the Gobbler Cup XVIII tournament!

Spring 2009

♦ The Blackhawks program had four teams in the Spring: the U12 Ladyhawks, and the U13, U15 and U18 Blackhawks.  These teams competed in the Premier Select Division. 

♦ We had a total of 72 teams formed in the Spring, consisting of 806 players: 518 players in the U6 to U10 recreational division,  288 players in the U11 to U19 division 1, and 68 in the premier division. 

July 2009

♦ The Blackhawks program had four teams in the Spring: the U12 Ladyhawks, and the U13, U15 and U18 Blackhawks.  These teams competed in the Premier Select Division.

Spring 2010

♦ The Blackhawks program had five teams in the Spring:  the U11 and U13 Ladyhawks, and the U11, U12 and U14 Blackhawks.  These teams competed in the Premier Select Division.

♦ We had over 1,050 players play in our program over the previous calendar year.

♦ Synergy Bank becomes the main club sponsor for Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association.

Fall 2011

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2011/2012: 281

Spring 2012

♦ Houma's premier Spring soccer tournament, the Bayou Shootout, is introduced for the first time! It featured over 70 teams and 19 clubs from around the state and southern Mississippi. Boys and girls ages 6-14 participated.

♦ Blackhawks 01 Black won U11B Coupe de La Ligue Cup Champions under TJ Freeman.

♦ HTSA Sharks U10, under Lee Andre, win the Recreational State Cup.

Fall 2012

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2012/2013: 229

Spring 2013

♦ HTSA Firebirds U9 - under Kevan Keiser and playing an age group up - are finalists in the LSA Recreational State Cup, suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to a U10 team from Gonzales at Lafreniere Park. 

♦ There were 579 fall recreational players, 176 new spring recreational players and 352 competitive players. Therefore, HTSA had 1,107 children playing soccer!

2013-14

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2013/2014: 331 (a record high!)

Spring 2014

♦ There were 496 fall recreational players, 145 new spring recreational players and 331 competitive players. Therefore, HTSA provided soccer to over 950 children!

♦ Ladyhawks Black 01/02 won C2 Presidents Cup under Matt Kelso, with a 2-0 win over Mandeville Lakers White 01/02.

♦ Blackhawks 02/03 Black runners up of U11 Boys FA Cup in Lafayette under Joe Comeaux, a 4-3 defeat to LA Fire 03B LP1.

Fall 2014

♦ The Blackhawks Development Program (BDP) is introduced in the Fall of 2014, for U10 players.

♦ Blackhawks 02/03 Black (U12) are finalists of C2 Presidents Cup in Baton Rouge under Joe Comeaux, slipping to a 2-1 defeat to Madisonville YB Predators.

♦ Blackhawks 03/04 Black (U11) are finalists in the U11 Black Division in Youngsville under Jeramy Arana, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Dynamo Juniors 03/04 Orange.

♦ Ladyhawks 03/04 Black (U11) are finalists in the U11 Red Division in Youngsville under Alanna Dehart, going down 1-0 to LSC Lady Hurricanes.

Fall 2015

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2015/2016: 321

♦ A record high 20 competitive teams: 10 Blackhawks (2x U10D, 2x U11, 2x U12, U13, 2x U15 and U17) and 10 Ladyhawks (U10D, U11, 2x U12, U13, 2x U14, U15, U16 and U18).

♦ The Blackhawk Development Program for U10 players is replaced by the Blackhawks Academy.

♦ Ladyhawks 04/05 Black reach the semi-final of C1 State Cup in Mandeville under Matt Ferguson, suffering a 4-0 defeat to Baton Rouge 04 Black.

♦ Blackhawks 00/01 Black are finalists of C2 Presidents Cup in Baton Rouge under TJ Freeman and Matt Robichaux, slipping to a 4-0 defeat to CABOSA Shreveport Utd Blue.

♦ Blackhawks 02/03 Black are finalists of C2 Presidents Cup in Baton Rouge under Kieran Gilberthorpe, a narrow 2-1 defeat to LA Fire Spartans.

♦ Jeramy Arana wins the Louisiana Soccer Association Competitive Coach of the Year Award for 2015-16.

♦ Shane Fletcher wins the Louisiana Soccer Association Recreational Coach of the Year Award for 2015-16.

Fall 2016

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2016/2017: 322

♦ HTSA forms 19 competitive teams – 10 Blackhawks (2x U11, 2x U12, U13, 2x U14, U15, U17 and U18) and 9 Ladyhawks (U11, 2x U12, 2x U14, 2x U15, U17 and U18).

♦ 2016 celebrates the 25th anniversary of our Gobbler Cup tournament!

♦ Pre-academy, Lil’ Hawks and Three Year Old Program are introduced in the spring to provide training by licensed coaches to a younger audience.

♦ Ladyhawks 00G Black finalists of C2 Presidents Cup in Mandeville under Matt Kelso, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Calcasieu Eagles.

♦ Ladyhawks 02 Black reach the semi-final of C1 State Cup in Baton Rouge under Kieran Gilberthorpe, slipping to a 2-0 defeat to eventual champions St Tammany Tigers (CYSA).

♦ Ladyhawks 03 White win C3 Open Cup Blue bracket in Lafayette under Kieran Gilberthorpe, clinching the championship with a 1-0 win over STYSA Storm.

♦ HTSA 14U-Lucas win C3 Open Cup Red bracket in Lafayette under Tim Lucas, with a convincing 3-1 win over Mandeville 2003/2004 Roquette.

♦ Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association graduates five players to college soccer programs from our U18 Blackhawks and Ladyhawks rosters.

♦ Six players from the association are selected for Louisiana ODP!

Fall 2017

♦ Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association strikes an agreement with Nike, with the sporting giant becoming the association's competitive uniform providers from the 2017-18 season and onwards, replacing Puma.

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2017/18: 259

♦ HTSA forms 17 competitive teams – 9 Ladyhawks (2x 11U, 12U, 2x 13U, 2x 15U, 16U and 18U) and 8 Blackhawks (2x 11U, 2x 12U, 13U, 14U, 16U and 17U).

♦ As of 21 Aug 2017, 659 players are signed up in the recreational program.

Spring 2018

♦ Blackhawks 07 Black (Joe Comeaux) finish second in the Bob Abbott Cup 11U Blue Division, suffering a 4-1 defeat to LA Fire CP Red in the final at the Jonny Downs Sports Complex in Alexandria.

♦ Blackhawks 07 White (Adam Leblanc) finish second in the Bob Abbott Cup 11U Red Division, going down to a 1-0 defeat to LA Fire LP Navy in the final.

♦ Blackhawks 06 Black (Joe Comeaux) finish second in the Bob Abbott Cup 12U Division One, defeated 4-2 in the final by CABOSA Blue.

♦ Ladyhawks 06 Black (Chris Staszak) finish second in the Bob Abbott Cup 12U Division Two, suffering a 5-2 defeat to BRSC in the final.

♦ Ladyhawks 00 Black (Henry Ruiz) win Presidents Cup, with a 3-2 victory over Cajun SC 00G in the final at Burbank Soccer Complex in Baton Rouge.

♦ Ladyhawks 02 Black (Matt Kelso) once again progress through to the semi finals of State Cup for the second year in a row, this time suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of LA Fire Red at Burbank Soccer Complex.

♦ Seven players from the association are selected for Louisiana ODP!

♦ Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association graduates two players to college soccer programs from our U18 Ladyhawks rosters: Molly Thompson (LSU) and Reagan Chauvin (NSU) as well as former players Ashton Zeringue, Maddie Robichaux (NSU) and Laresah Gros (NSU).

 

Fall 2018

♦ Blackhawks Academy is expanded to include 7U-9U to provide training by licensed coaches to a younger audience.

♦ Blackhawks/Ladyhawks players in 2018/19: 220

♦ HTSA forms 16 competitive teams – 8 Ladyhawks (11U, 2x 12U, 13U, 14U, 2x 16U and 17U) and 8 Blackhawks (11U, 2x 12U, 2x 13U, 14U, 16U and 18U).

♦ As of 21 Aug 2018, 633 players are signed up in the recreational program, plus 47 in 7/8U Academy, 45 in the 9/10U Academy and 35 in our Three Year Old Program.

2023

♦ 2023 was a year of marked changes. Kristen and Tanner Magee were actively advocating for soccer in the community and were able to get Terrebonne Parish to invest in soccer with the construction of Bayou Country Sports Park.

♦ Newly elected President, Clay Duplantis, initiated a major change in the club. We changed from Houma-Terrebonne Soccer Association to Bayou Soccer Club. We also revamped the logo to become one singular brand throughout the club, in order to increase our brand awareness throughout the entire club and not just competitive. This was to become more inclusive of the region and to signify that we were moving forward into the future as a new club with a new look. We also changed our colors to Navy, Gold, and White.
